Summary

The State of Delaware plans to expand discharge planning for people with mental illness and serious mental illness preparing to exit Delaware Department of Correction (DDOC) facilities and monitor the program’s effectiveness with a new tracking system. The DDOC will hire a mental health and justice fellow to oversee and facilitate these efforts. This program will create a strategy for measuring baseline recidivism for the target population, create enhanced partnerships to support discharge planning, and establish best practices for people with mental illness and serious mental illness who are justice involved.
